A-HOME

A-HOME provides housing for older adults, individuals recovering from mental illness, and most recently, housing for single parent households. There are currently five A-HOME properties all located in Westchester County. St. Mary's provides not only monetary contributions to A-HOME but hands-on efforts such as painting, parties and outtings for A-HOME residents.

Bedford Hills Correctional Facility

Bedford Hills is a maximum security prison for women. The Children's Center, the Infant Day Care Center and the Mother's Group offer a wide range of services to the inmates and their children. The program is designed to help the women preserve and strengthen family ties, receiving visits from their children as often as possible in a warm, nurturing environment. St. Mary's assists monetarily as well as providing goodies and gifts during the year, such as Christmas stockings and Halloween goodies. St. Mary's has also provided transportation for children to the prison to visit their mothers. Gifts are not limited to the children, we have provided gift packages to the mothers, especially at the holidays and Mother's Day.

Midnight Run

Midnight Run is an ecumenical ministry shared with fifty other churches and synagogues in suburban New York. Church members go out late at night into midtown Manhattan to feed the homeless. Four times a year St. Mary volunteers pack more than 400 lunches, gather bundles of donated clothes and make up kettles of soup and coffee. The food and clothing are loaded into a van and driven into midtown for distribution to the homeless. Fifteen to twenty people participate in distributing the food, including some of our teenagers. We not only contribute the food, but have supported Midnight Run in helping to purchase a new van.

Women's Shelter

The shelter is a haven for abused women. While living in the shelter, often with children, St. Mary's provides whatever assistance is requested. Often the women arrive with nothing and a call will come in for clothing, diapers, formula or perhaps a car seat. Usually we are able to provide requested items from the parish, some items are purchased and donated to the Shelter. We also provide such items as goodie bags for Mother's Day or even a birthday cake for a child.

Strawberry Festival

Not only is the Strawberry Festival the major fundraiser for St. Mary's but it is an annual community event held in May for the last 61 years. Craft vendors offer ample shopping opportunities. There are numerous games and activities for children of all ages, and food and fun for the whole family. All St. Maryans are involved in this spring time event.

The Good St. Maryans

This group of dedicated parishioners provides help to families within the parish who find themselves in need. A death in the family or a sudden event, which requires assistance, gets this group moving. The Good St. Maryans might provide transportation, meals or just moral support in the time of need.
