Here are some books you may want to consult for further information and ideas about serving effectively as a lay minister. All are available from the Jackson Library at St. Mary's.

  • A Manual for Lay Eucharistic Ministers by Beth Wickenberg Ely. Harrisburg, PA: Morehouse Publishing, 1991. 94 pages. A practical guide for LEM II's that can help make your home or hospital visits a spiritually rewarding experience.
  • Your Voice, God's Word by William Sydnor. Harrisburg, PA: Morehouse Publishing, 1988. 56 pages. Interesting, down-to-earth advice on how to read effectively in church, including tips on intonation, breath control, and interpreting Biblical language.
  • A Lector's Guide to the Episcopal Eucharistic Lectionary by Frank Mulligan. Wichita, KS: St. Mark's Press, 1986. 237 pages. Lists all of the readings prescribed in the Episcopal lectionary with commentary on the meaning of each passage and suggestions for effective reading.
